Meet our
(+ a few wonderful sweethearts who have found their forever humans!)
Rusty is an old soul with the gentlest heart. Somehow, this big sweet Labrador ended up alone at a shelter after a lifetime with someone who clearly loved him. We believe his person may have passed away — because Rusty arrived confused and heartbroken, as if the world he knew had suddenly disappeared. When the shelter ran out of time, they were preparing to say goodbye forever. But just in the nick of time, we were able to bring him to safety.
Rusty is the definition of easygoing — a laid-back, loyal companion who just wants to be near his person and soak up all the love he can get. At about 110 pounds he’s a little chubby (so a few gentle walks and treats in moderation will help!), but what he really needs most is a quiet home and someone who wants a devoted best friend by their side. Rusty is a one-person kind of dog, the kind who will give his whole heart to you if you give him yours. After everything he’s been through, he deserves a soft place to land and a human to love again. 🐾
Rusty

Gandalf & Frodo are the ultimate besties: inseparable best buds who’ve been side-by-side since puppyhood.
These two do everything together- eat together, sleep together, and yes… definitely bark together.
Gandalf is the adventurous spirit of the pair- the longer the walk, the happier he is! Frodo is the loyal protector, always ready to stand tall in front of you like the brave Sergeant General of the pack. Together, they’re loyalty, and love.
Gandalf & Frodo
Chloe, a sweet little Chihuahua with wonky little walk and rescued within minutes of euthanasia, has found her forever home.
It was a perfect match when her humans walked in the door and met her and love at first sight. 😍😍😍. We’re incredibly happy for her. It was meant to be.
Chloe

Matilda
Matilda is 13 years old and blind. She’s our three-legged Chug (Chihuahua/Pug), who we rescued from horrific conditions.
Matilda is pure unadulterated love. If you’re looking for someone who will melt your heart and just wants to be cuddled, this is your warm ball of fuzz who wants nothing more than to curl up on the sofa and be at peace.
Sarah was terrified when she first came to our haven. It took weeks before she would let anyone get near her. But over time, patience, and love she started slowly but surely to trust again and blossom.
Day by day, her confidence grew and before long, her true personality shined through.
Now she’s the self-appointed boss of the household, carefully supervising playtime to make sure everyone is being kind and safe… even if she sometimes thinks the fun looks a little too wild for her liking.

Charlotte
Charlotte is a senior blind Dachshund–Corgi mix who survived heartbreaking conditions in a hoarding situation. Despite the darkness she came from, Charlotte is one of the sweetest, most gentle souls you could ever meet. Her blindness hasn’t taken away her trust or her love for people — she simply leans in closer to feel it.
What Charlotte wants most now is simple: a soft couch, warm belly rubs, and someone to cuddle beside while being showered with affection. She is a very special little girl who will fill a quiet home with extraordinary love. 🐾
Connie
Connie is a 7 year old, who came to us from a shelter deathly ill. Recovered now, this snaggle-toothed princess is as gentle as they come.
She loves greeting people and gazing up into their eyes as if she’s softly asking, “Will you spend some time with me?” Connie enjoys going on group walks, but if she’s out on her own, she’d much rather turn back and be close to her people.
Button is a 10-year-old shelter girl with a heart of gold. This precious Chug (Chihuahua/Pug) has just found her forever home and mama who will shower her with the love and attention she deserves❤️.
We are forever grateful for having known and loved this little girl who touches the hearts of everyone she meets.

Floyd is the dog people often walk past — not because he isn’t wonderful, but because he’s shy. This little terrier with the spiky hair came to us as a stray from Stockton, and the world still feels a bit big and uncertain to him. Floyd tends to hang back quietly, watching and waiting, unsure who he can trust.
But when Floyd realizes someone is kind, something beautiful happens. His gentle loyalty begins to shine through, and he becomes the sweetest little companion you could imagine. All Floyd needs is a patient friend who will let him go at his own pace, show him kindness every day, and help him discover that the world can be safe and full of love.

Kenny
Kenny is our pure-bred English Bullie bundle of joy who loves to run, play, and eat! He thrives with his favorite toys, which give him comfort and endless entertainment.
Full of energy, Kenny is always ready to spread happiness and a little fun (and maybe a little chaos) wherever he goes. Kenny was left abandoned and is looking for a forever family to show him how loved he truly is.
Be prepared for a life-long companion with him - he’s only 2 years old!
Penny Lane
Penny is a sunshine lover who can often be found sunbathing in the window, soaking up every golden ray.
She’s also a treadmill champ and enjoys getting her energy out with a good run.

Cookie
Cookie is one of the beloved elders of the H4H family. She is the laid-back grandmother.
She knows exactly what she wants in life: love, kisses, belly rubs, nice walks, her meals on time and her much-anticipated naps, preferably uninterrupted.
Eddy
Eddy, our 9-year-old shelter sweetheart, is still finding his footing. While he can feel shy in new situations but he’s making steady progress each day. On walks, he transforms- trotting along with a proud, show-dog-style gallop that’s impossible not to smile at. When it’s time to wind down, he seeks out his sister Nora, staying close for the security and comfort she brings.

Harriet
Harriet loves balls! She was found lost and wandering with severely overgrown nails desperate to find a safe place where she could be loved. . We think she was someone’s loyal companion who might have died because we can tell she was beloved.
Don’t let her age fool you- this sweet gal moves with the energy of a 2-year-old, especially when chasing a tennis ball across the yard or taking herself on little walks. Harriet absolutely loves being outside, loves people, and loves sniffing every bush and exploring every corner with pure joy.
Lucy
Lucy was found walking along the side of the road, scared and confused. We brought her in from the cold and into a cozy, warm bed, and she quickly began to adjust.
From the very first days at the rescue, she was eager to explore the play area, full of curiosity and energy.
Lucy is a complete lovebug and loves climbing onto staff members’ shoulders- eventually curling up and drifting off to sleep like the little snuggle bug she is.
Chloe
Chloe is Charlotte’s sister and just as full of sweetness and love. This gentle little girl adores being close to her people and will happily melt into your arms the moment she feels a loving touch.
Her favorite things in the world are tummy rubs, being held, and showered with kisses.
Chloe is a tender, affectionate soul who simply wants to be cherished and kept close — the kind of dog who turns quiet moments on the couch into something truly special. 🐾
Bubba Lou
Bubba is 7 years old and comes to us from a shelter. He’s an energetic little butterball with a personality as big as his name.
He loves “chatting” with everyone he meets and isn’t shy about making new friends. True to form, food is always on his mind, and he’ll happily follow you to the ends of the earth if there’s a good bowl of grub waiting at the finish line.
Ray Ray
Ray Ray is 7 years old, from a shelter. He may be a little shy at first, but he loves just as deeply. When it’s mealtime, his excitement takes over- he spins in a hundred happy little circles before trotting into his kennel to wait patiently for his bowl.
Annie
When Annie first arrived at the rescue, she was terrified. She would crawl under her blanket and hide, unsure of the world around her. We moved slowly and gently, giving her the time and space she needed. Fear made her nippy at first, but with the patient love and steady support of our staff and volunteers, Annie began to trust again.
Today, she lives free from fear, surrounded by care and compassion- just waiting for the perfect person to call her own.
Roxie
Roxie is a bundle of energy and love. We're not sure about her story except that she came to us as a stray and she's an absolute delight.
She full of energy and bursting with love and affection, just waiting for her right human to walk in that door and snatch her up.
She's still a young girl with a full life ahead of her, so if you're looking for your new best friend, Roxie will fit that bill. She's absolutely the sweetest 😍
Nora
Nora is so, so shy. Its been weeks that she has been with us and only now is she beginning to come out of her shell. She is the gentlest of gentle dogs you'll ever meet with a heart full of love just waiting for the right human to show up and meet her.
Once you spend time with her you can never forget her. This girl has so much sadness in her, we are sure she lost her human. She yearns to be in someone's home, safe at last showered with kindness and tenderness.
We hope you are that person; she's waiting for you.
Nutmeg
In Foster! 😍 From the moment we first saw her trembling in the shelter from terror our hearts went out to Nutmeg. She is the most precious sweet little dog you will ever find.
Nutmeg personifies love. We are sure she used to be someone’s constant companion. Now all she wants is a lap to curl up in and a place to call her own where kindness abounds and she can call her own.
